Today's video communication systems are highly developed in analog, digital and cloud-based platforms. There are Internet Protocol (IP) based scheduling programs that can network thousands of stations together to conduct statewide or even nationwide meetings.

Specialized systems are used for video visitation in the corrections industry. Some are "hardware neutral," meaning they use non-proprietary, off-the-shelf components that help keep initial cost as well as ongoing maintenance expense to a minimum. Interaction with existing databases, such as JMS/OMS software, is available. This makes scheduling visits much simpler and significantly less labor intensive. Individual systems in use today manage hundreds of visitation stations and conduct tens of thousands of visits per month. To reduce costs, some software programs can be installed on or can be used in conjunction with existing systems. Fourth generation systems are multi-functional and can include not only on-site and remote visitation, but many other optional functions such as commissary, law library, email, education and entertainment streaming and much more. Revenue sharing is typically an option with such systems.

VISITTECH stays abreast of this rapidly advancing technology and offers its knowledge and expertise to those seeking these systems.
